TrapX Security expands cloud data center support for Amazon AWS, KVM OpenStack

TrapX Security announced on Monday fully integrated cloud data support for DeceptionGrid for both Amazon AWS EC2 and KVM OpenStack. This enhancement addresses the growing challenges associated with visibility and lateral movement within the hybrid environments of cloud and internal networks.

Widespread private and public cloud adoption presents significant security challenges. Security teams must extend their operations across internal networks who support a large number of cloud based applications.

There are several key elements to success in securing the cloud with accurate assessment of threat intelligence on lateral movement from the network to the cloud; extending cybersecurity to rapidly evolving cloud environments; extending protection to instances wherein the cloud and corporate network are connected through a VPN; and integration of cloud security with the corporate network’s existing security ecosystem.

TrapX Security is a leader in deception based cybersecurity defense. Our solutions rapidly detect, deceive, and defeat advanced cyberattacks and human attackers in real time. DeceptionGrid provides automated, highly accurate insight into malicious activity unseen by other types of cyberdefenses.

By deploying DeceptionGrid, users can create a proactive security posture, fundamentally halting the progression of an attack while changing the economics of cyberattacks by shifting the cost to the attacker. The TrapX Security customer base includes commercial and government customers worldwide in sectors that include defense, healthcare, finance, energy, consumer products, and other key industries.

The DeceptionGrid platform offers a full suite of deception capabilities that include a variety of traps and decoys. These appear identical in every way to operational IT assets and connected Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. This multi-tier approach to engagement maximizes the deception surface to deceive and engage the attacker.

Upon penetrating a network or cloud environment, attackers move laterally to locate high-value targets. Almost everywhere they turn they will face a DeceptionGrid trap or decoy. Just one touch of the DeceptionGrid by the attacker sets off a high-confidence alert. DeceptionGrid integrates with key elements of the network and security ecosystem to contain attacks and enable a rapid return to normal operations.

“The TrapX DeceptionGrid can meet a very broad variety of deployment needs. You can deploy it within your internal data centers, remote branch offices, and within any of the most popular cloud architectures,” said Yuval Malachi, Chief Technology Officer of TrapX Security. “Our DeceptionGrid now brings very deep visibility to cyber attackers that penetrate your cloud infrastructure so that you can detect them and rapidly shut down the threat.”

Security operations teams can detect threats faster in areas of the network where they previously had limited visibility, minimizing the chances of a successful breach. This deep visibility into malicious activity within an organization’s cloud can minimize or eliminate the risk to intellectual property, IT assets, critical infrastructure, and impact on business operations.

“As cyber intrusions metastasize in cloud environments, CISO’s must lean in and suppress the adversary through deploying DeceptionGrids,” said Tom Kellermann, CEO of Strategic Cyber Ventures and TrapX board member. “In this release, TrapX has revolutionized cybersecurity in the cloud.”
