Samsung and TigerText come together to transform healthcare communications for clinicians

Samsung Electronics America and TigerText announced Thursday a partnership to deliver an all-in-one, purpose-built healthcare solution for improving the way care teams communicate and coordinate efforts. The solution is designed for use by clinical staff members within hospitals and care facilities and combines the security, dependability and ease of use features of Samsung’s smartphones, with the advanced real-time communications platform capabilities of TigerText.

TigerText’s clinically integrated workflow engine, TigerFlow, centralizes information from systems such as the electronic health record, nurse call, admit/discharge/transfer, scheduling, imaging and labs, into a single interface for real-time, mobile-centric notifications and communication. Improvements in efficiency allows clinicians to streamline continuity of care and spend more time caring for patients and less time tracking down colleagues or completing redundant administrative tasks.

Currently certified and deployed on the Samsung Galaxy J7, this affordable device has specific appeal among cost-conscious organizations, bringing a similar feature set at one quarter of the cost of a typical ruggedized “healthcare” smartphone. TigerText is also available on Samsung’s full lineup of mobile devices including the flagship Galaxy S8 and Note 8.

Ideal for deployment to care teams, home health and skilled nursing facilities, this joint offering provides CNOs and CNIOs a top of the line, enterprise-grade smartphone that meets the consumer-expectations of staff, who benefit from a fully-connected, PC-like experience on a handheld mobile device.

As more health systems move to hospital-provided devices for nurses, Samsung delivers added value to IT teams through its centralized device and application management platform Knox. Through Knox Security, health providers are able to offer secure access to Patient Health Information (PHI) via mobile EMR. The Knox Configure tool provides IT administrators with a highly secure, centralized interface for managing users, devices, and applications.

“We’re excited to partner with Samsung, a global technology leader with a deep history of advancing innovation in healthcare,” said Brad Brooks, CEO and co-founder of TigerText. “TigerText and Samsung embrace the same vision of empowering all healthcare clinicians with technology that helps them to create more efficient workflows that lower costs and improve the lives of the patients they serve.”

“Nurses and clinical staff across the country are increasingly being asked to care for more patients with additional responsibility over administrative tasks such as ensuring that electronic health records are accurate and up to date,” said Dr. David Rhew, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Healthcare and Fitness at Samsung Electronics America. “This industry-driven solution from Samsung and TigerText is designed to make clinicians jobs easier, by streamlining their communications so that they can focus on delivering the highest quality of care.”
