Aerohive improves SD-LAN extensibility, stretching sFlow across Wi-Fi portfolio

Aerohive Networks, a cloud networking company, announced Thursday increased network monitoring extensibility as the first vendor to deliver sFlow support across its entire access point portfolio.

The addition of sFlow complements Aerohive’s broad range of existing monitoring and reporting services to further simplify network operations through Aerohive’s HiveManager NMS and third-party Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, including Splunk and SolarWinds.

The sFlow capabilities provide mid- to large enterprise and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) with scalable line-speed monitoring and reporting of all traffic flowing throughout their Wi-Fi infrastructure. Providing support for sFlow monitoring in access points enables fine-grained and real-time visibility at the network edge, which is essential for network troubleshooting, traffic accounting, and security. Incorporating sFlow into Aerohive’s software defined networking platform enables customers to use their underlying infrastructure to provide immediate visibility into operational networks, without the complexity and cost of adding probes or using premium network monitoring solutions.

The visibility provided by Aerohive enables traffic to be monitored and problems to be identified wherever they occur in IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Aerohive, leveraging industry-standard protocols such as sFlow, SNMP, SSH, Syslog, and open APIs, increases compatibility with most third-party SIEM tools and provides an effective solution for detecting advanced security threats and streamlining compliance reporting.

With an arsenal of network monitoring tools, administrators can troubleshoot network issues, control congestion, profile traffic, and analyze security audit trails.

Aerohive Networks and WAV Inc., a value-added distributor of world-class networking technologies, announced in August that the companies have joined forces to deliver a cloud-managed WLAN solution to integrators and managed service providers across a variety of vertical markets.

By collaborating with WAV, Aerohive is able to extend its distribution channel to effectively support integrators, MSPs and, by extension, end customers in hospitality and WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider), education, and MDU vertical markets. Aerohive’s distribution agreement with WAV will further accelerate the uptake that Aerohive is experiencing with service providers, due to its widening product portfolio, flexible business terms, and improved scale and flexibility.
